I want to write about the vital importance of natural beauty and hygiene products. An often overlooked area of concern when it comes to our health are the over 80,000 unregulated chemicals in our environment. America has the most pitifully insufficient oversight of the chemical industry of all advanced nations. And this is due in no small part to how powerful the chemical industry is in America. They are very closely related to the fossil fuel industry and are one in the same in many cases. Hence why it’s often called the petrol-chemical industry. Since the 90’s the European Union has outlawed approximately 1300 chemicals that displayed signs of concern. In that same time period America has banned 35. That is quite a discrepancy and reveals the power of money in politics. These chemical companies used to make chemical weapons during the World Wars, but once those were outlawed they began making pesticides that we spray on our food and hygiene products that we slather all over our skin. 😬 The FDA is overrun with former corporate lobbyists regulating exactly the same companies they once worked for. And we live under a for profit healthcare system. There is a financial interest in allowing us to make ourselves sick with these unregulated and in many cases proven toxic chemicals. Be cautious. Trust the EU’s opinions on these substances over the FDA’s. Europe’s system is far from perfect but it functions far better than ours at least. Spend a little extra on natural cleaning, hygiene and beauty products and you could potentially save the cost of medical treatment later. Some brands I like are Dr. Bronner’s, Allafia and Biokleen. ❤️ It’s worth noting that in many cases, the exact same chemical company that produces a chemical shown to cause cancer, also produces chemotherapy drugs designed to treat that cancer. That is the parasitic nature of a severely flawed and woefully under-regulated system. Thanks for reading this, friends. Be good to yourselves. ❤️
